One of our recent posts touched upon our perspective on risky behavio(u)r and criminal intent, and how environment and other social factors could play an instrumental role in this discussion. It could be a mere coincidence that this news came about a roommate/"friend" until the previous night, who stole the winning lotto ticket, which turned out to be in millions of dollars, How situation, greed, and environment could transform a person can be seen from this particular example, if this report were to be true and real. If we were to have such individuals participate in a survey on risk taking and criminal intent, as presented in the below reference link, we would, most probably, have them on the low-risk side. https://www.nbcnews.com/news/us-news/california-man-accused-stealing-roommate-s-winning-10-million-lotto-n956616 Earlier post reference, and references presented there in: https://plus.google.com/111375717217714398633/posts/ZMDmogP3dyi https://www.nbcnews.com/news/us-ne

Although the behavioral consequences of such a negative experience are well studied, it is still not known what molecular and structural changes in the brain are associated with them. Neurobiologists from Russia suggested that mem

Interesting study.

Interesting study. Though the Neuroscience part might be relatively new, the study of criminal minds by psychiatrists, psychologists, criminologists, and pathologists had been in place for more than a century. For example, Jean Alexandre Eugène Lacassagne, a French pathologist digged deep into details in the latter part of 19th century by using the method of studying "criminal autobiographies". When it comes to risk taking and criminal intent, it is a highly interconnected topic that depends on variables such as, environment (social, economic and financial) , level of risk, upbringing, local culture, educational level, rule of law to name a few. Risky behavior of an individual could also change over time with more awareness across various areas coming with experience, and worldly exposure. For that matter, even driving a bike could be considered a risky proposition by some, whereas it would be the common transportation means in some parts of the world. Does it me
